Dear Caron,
I am an RN and just started a new job in a mental health facility. The focus is on children and adolescence. We do a daily "group" with them. We may pick the topic the only criteria being "education" of some sort. I wanted to offer some valuable coping skills kids could use. So, I went to the computer and spent over an hour clicking on lists of Internet items looking for help. I was getting very tired and needed to go to bed. When bingo" I found your article on kids, trauma, and coping skills! I just wanted to say a great big thank-you for your helpful article!
Sincerely ,
Charlotte Rogers

This can help parents achieve the behavioral results they want, and the harmony they desire. Read on...

However, we live in a society that generally lacks the form to do so together in a way that truly matches the majesty of the occasion. Boulder’s own Anna Stewart’s Mother Blessings: Honoring Women Becoming Mothers is an invaluable tool for doing just that—creating meaningful ceremonies that honor a woman’s transition into motherhood.  Read on...

Read It Again, Grandma!

By Karen Robbins

I love Dr. Seuss books. I loved reading them to my children. I love reading them to my grandchildren. The Cat In The Hat is fun because it opens the door to the imagination. Just what would you tell your mother if you’d had a day like that? I’ve received all sorts of answers from a shrug of the shoulders and a giggle to “Oh, I would tell her everything.” I think the tell-all answer was so that the cat could get the blame for everything.  Read on...

Imagery For Our Children

A Magical Healing Garden

By Charlotte Reznick, Ph.D.

Spring is a time of new beginnings: flowers blooming and seeds blossoming into lush plants that we’ve nurtured and cultivated earlier. Spring can also be a time of renewal for our children – to open their hearts, to share their hopes, and to expand their dreams. We can guide our children toward their right path by helping them connect with their own inner seeds - of peace - of joy - of love. We can teach them how to the heal hurts of their personal dark winter – in the present, and from the past. And, we can support our children in developing their potential. The most potent technique that I have found in my twenty-five years of practice is for children to empower themselves with the healing power of imagery.   Read On...
