Praise

Dear Caron,
I am an RN and just started a new job in a mental health facility. The focus is on children and adolescence. We do a daily "group" with them. We may pick the topic the only criteria being "education" of some sort. I wanted to offer some valuable coping skills kids could use. So, I went to the computer and spent over an hour clicking on lists of Internet items looking for help. I was getting very tired and needed to go to bed. When bingo" I found your article on kids, trauma, and coping skills! I just wanted to say a great big thank-you for your helpful article!
Sincerely ,
Charlotte Rogers

The Gift Every Child Really Wants

By Pam Leo

Whether we observe Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Solstice, the holidays have become more stressful for many parents and less happy for many children. By the time we add shopping, wrapping, baking, decorating, and holiday events to our already busy schedules, we have less time than ever to spend with our children. When children don't get enough attention from the people they love, their "love cup" gets empty and they feel disconnected and unhappy. Read on...

Paying It Forward…

Once in a great while, I catch an inspiring glimpse of how others make a difference in another’s life. On Oprah’s recent show, called Pay It Forward, money was distributed by strangers to others as a surprise. One mom ordered pizza and other small items to be delivered to her home and gave the delivery persons large cash bonuses. One single mother went in search of other single moms to give the cash to help them celebrate Christmas in abundance.

ACPI doesn’t have money to give away, but my husband, Tom Goode, and I do have books and music that can make a difference in your health, attitude and well being. If you want to join our Pay It Forward Campaign for Christmas, please buy item and we will send a second item of your choice to the person of your choice, free shipping and at no extra charge to you.

After you have completed your purchase, you will be directed to a page where you will select which book you want to send to a friend and you will enter their mailing address.

Christmas Giving

By Caron Goode

Christmas is a simple holiday. It is a time of giving, but for many families this simplicity is overshadowed by the consuming side of Christmas. We rush to Christmas sales, and spend precious evening and weekend hours fervently trying to fulfill every Christmas wish. This relatively new and consumer driven tradition often renders us exhausted and anxious, which negatively affects our spirit of giving.  Read on...
