Dear Caron,
I am an RN and just started a new job in a mental health facility. The focus is on children and adolescence. We do a daily "group" with them. We may pick the topic the only criteria being "education" of some sort. I wanted to offer some valuable coping skills kids could use. So, I went to the computer and spent over an hour clicking on lists of Internet items looking for help. I was getting very tired and needed to go to bed. When bingo" I found your article on kids, trauma, and coping skills! I just wanted to say a great big thank-you for your helpful article!
Sincerely ,
Charlotte Rogers

Here is our list to get your family started on their caring opportunities. Read on...

Three Tips for Weight Loss & Fat Prevention

By Tom Goode, ND

Weight management interests most of us, even the currently slender. Even they will discover that as people age it is "normal" to tend to gain weight. A pound a year is the current norm, or ten pounds per decade. If you weighed 160 pounds at age 21, expect to weigh 190 by the time you are 51. If you were 115 when you were married, you will probably move up to 151 or more -- unless you do something about it. The skinny teen all too quickly becomes normally overweight. It doesn't take long. Plus, drugs such as steroids, some antidepressants and environmental toxins all can contribute to weight gain beyond the healthy norm. Read on...
