Praise

Dear Caron,
I am an RN and just started a new job in a mental health facility. The focus is on children and adolescence. We do a daily "group" with them. We may pick the topic the only criteria being "education" of some sort. I wanted to offer some valuable coping skills kids could use. So, I went to the computer and spent over an hour clicking on lists of Internet items looking for help. I was getting very tired and needed to go to bed. When bingo" I found your article on kids, trauma, and coping skills! I just wanted to say a great big thank-you for your helpful article!
Sincerely ,
Charlotte Rogers

Why Read This Book?

What is inspired parenting?

It is a new approach to parenting grounded in mindbody science and the belief that every child is born with innate gifts and a personal vision that parents can effectively encourage and nurture.

What makes inspired parenting so unique?

Inspired parenting techniques are simple and easy to follow. They include:

  • Affirmations for your child

  • Asking your child open-ended questions

  • Being an active listener

  • Learning to communicate honestly with children

In addition to these techniques, Nurture Your Child's Gift also includes concrete activities that parents can do with their children to help inspire and encourage them to follow their dreams:

  • Creating musical instruments out of ordinary objects

  • Guided story-telling

  • Breathing exercises

  • Singing about feelings

  • Playing the "What do you value?" game

  • Recording your child's voice and replaying it

  • Dream interpretation

  • Reading with your child

What are the benefits of inspired parenting?

  • Physically and emotionally healthy children

  • Less stress in the home and family

  • More joy and laughter in the home

  • Not having to live up to the "shoulds" and "oughts" of parenting

  • Realizing that there is no perfect parent or parenting method

What do we risk when we neglect a child's gift?

  • Children who lack a sense of purpose in life

  • Our personal safety as a result of children who turn to drugs, violence, the media, and self-hatred

  • The future of our society
